Sandro Laffranchini
Born in 1974, began the study the cello with his father, Joseph, to six years. He graduated from the Conservatory "G. In 2000 he was chosen by Maestro Muti as first cello soloist of the Philharmonic and the Teatro della Scala, beginning an intense activity around the world. He won first prizes in international competitions in chamber music in Stresa, Pinerolo, and has also received scholarships from the Rotary Club and the competition for 1999 Stradivarius cello (the only award-winning Italian). In summer 2005, invited by Maestro Valery Gergiev to join as solo cellist of the World Peace Orchestra, formed by the first parts of the most prestigious orchestras throughout the world, has participated in a tour which visited London, Berlin, Moscow and Beijing . In May 2007, with music composed on commission, was presented at the Conservatory of Brescia on his first CD for solo cello, in a project that includes sculptures and poetry.
In September 2007 he participated in a new tours to Brussels, Amsterdam and London.
