2008 Musical Season From April 20 to September 6, 2008
A Musical Season 2008 important, the one that has opened Orient Express Ensemble on April 20 at 21.00 at the Palazzo Verbania Luino. Eight appointments provided free entry until September 6. The virtuosity of the soloists and the melancholic and passionate sound of Eastern Europe opened the season with a concert of the 'Orient Express Ensemble that put to work some early parts of the Orchestra of Italian Switzerland: the violin Hungarian Tamas Major, who is also concertmaster of the Orchestra of Budapest, on clarinet Corrado Giuffredi also guest principal clarinet of the Filarmonica della Scala, Enrico Fagone bass, along with Cyrus Root (accordion and arrangements) and with the participation of Francesca Galante (vocals) interpreter of some of the more humorous songs of the tradition of the Yiddish-speaking Jews. Italian and foreign artists. For fans of jazz music the appointment with the prestigious Rea-Sellani duo is scheduled for June 23 at the Teatro Sociale di Luino, while the American guitarist Garrison Fewell and his trio and with the exceptional contribution of Don Friedman characterize the evening of 8 July at the Palazzo Verbania. Danilo Rea and Renato Sellani, both at the piano, Umbria Jazz have shown "an intelligence capable of generating an improvisational surprise after another" ( http://www.italia.allaboutjazz.com/ ) representing two different generations, for an already Sellani performer alongside personalities that have marked the history of the international jazz scene such as Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Hellen Merrill. Garrison Fewell has been called the "Bill Evans of the guitar." A Luino performs with the pianist Don Friedman, whose name by the late '50s is at the side of great soloists like Chet Baker, Shorty Rogers, Ornette Coleman.
Appointments for lovers of classical music will be held at the Palazzo Verbania May 30 with the Quartet Amado, July 27 with the duo Andrea Rebaudengo (piano) and Sandro Laffranchini (cello) and August 16 at Runo's Dumenza with Trio of Reeds Milan Giuseppe Verdi Symphony Orchestra. The Quartet is made up of Marco Corsini and Igor Della Corte violins, viola and Joseph Roberto Mazzoni Laffranchini since 1979 is solo cellist of the Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Teatro alla Scala and cello solo of "Archi della Scala". The Duo-Rebaudengo Laffranchini won the "Web Music Competition in New York.
